Two-time Stanley Cup champion Carl Hagelin retires after 11 NHL seasons: What he meant to Penguins

Veteran NHL forward Carl Hagelin is retiring, he announced Wednesday on Instagram. Here’s what you need to know:

Hagelin played 11 NHL seasons and 713 career games for the New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals.
The 35-year-old cited complications from his eye injury for retiring. Hagelin suffered the eye injury during practice on March 1, 2022, forcing him to have two surgeries to avoid losing his left eye completely.
